Video: Can Feelings Make You Fat?

Come one, come all, and check out the first video I’ve ever done strictly for YouTube.

I started my new YouTube channel JonBensonFitness today. And I promise you this: My videos are not your father’s fitness videos.

So many people on YouTube do the “Here’s how you do a crunch” video that … well, the last thing I felt we needed on planet earth was another one of those guys. So I opted to become the “un-fitness guy” on YouTube — the guy talking about the issues of mind, meals, muscle and motion that I think are the most important.

Here’s the first video — but I want you to do me a big favor while you’re checking it out…

1. Please rate the video!

2. Please comment on the video… I want to hear your thoughts!

3. Please subscribe to my video channel!

All three would mean a lot to a fledgling YouTuber… oh, and feel free to pass it around to your friends.

Good video, like the informality and the subject. For sure I eat for the feeling; and more so when I was much younger. You are right on the mark regarding why I resist going to the gym. So much input for so little output. Take care, Sherry

    Hi Jon,
You are such a sweetheart, it really comes over on your videos. Great questions to think about too.
Do you ever get over an addiction to sugar? Maybe I need more support than I thought. Like addicts do.
    TTFN Mel.

      Thanks Mel… means a lot!

Do you ever get over an addiction? I know former drug addicts that say “no”, but I say “yes” — if you stop something and never do it again, I guess you do. It’s semantics… but I think it’s always going to be a struggle on ‘some’ level if it’s a been an addiction. That’s something I can accept. Good support with our trainers – and we’re doing a month of free coaching if you want to try that out: http://tinyurl.com/free-month-coaching

Love to see you on the coaching forum!

    Hey Jon,
you came across as a real genuine person!! What do I feel…hmmm!!! i have been struggling with this weight thing for so long that I have come to the point of almost giving up now. Maybe I was DESTINED to be fat. I am a vegetarian, I FEEL i dont eat too mcuh junk but clearly I am doing something that is not right!! I exercise…harder than the next person but guess not as hard as i need to…i dont even kow where I am right now!!
but i will follow your course and maybe this is one thing that will make me believe again..
    thanks
    Tara

    Answering the question:
I think it’s fear of failure. And lack of information.
For a year or so I went to the gym and nothing happens… Why? Low weight – Do this with 1 pound, or you’ll get hurt… You’re a woman! You’ve got to lift lighter weights…And stuff like that. -, endless reps and cardio sessions, and diets that couldn’t really work… That’s a regular gym “mentality” around here. So why should I continue?
So I quit. For about 6 years I did no cardio, no bodyweigth exercises… Nothing. Now, I’ve been collecting info with Vince Delmonte, Craig Ballantyne and, since yesterday, with you. I’ll tell you, it makes a lot of difference when you know what you’re doing… In less than a month (and at home) I’ve got much more results than in 1 year at a gym. That includes diet too. I still don’t have the body that I want, but I think this time I’ll get there.

Btw, congratulations, Jon! You’re doing a really nice and – why not? – funny work, not boring at all. Keep up!
